Description
Penderyn Distillery will open its doors to visitors in June 2008 with the launch of its new visitors’ facilities. The distillery is the only one in Wales and the first to legally distil a whisky spirit in the country for more than 100 years. This is the first time that members of the public will be able to visit the distillery and experience the distilling and bottling process.

Penderyn Single Malt Whisky was launched by His Royal Highness Prince Charles, The Prince of Wales on 1st March 2004 at the St David’s Hall in Cardiff. Since then, Wales’ only whisky has experienced considerable success. It is now found on the shelves of both supermarkets and specialist retailers throughout the UK and is distributed to 16 countries, including 28 US states. Penderyn has also won high critical acclaim and a number of prestigious international industry awards and medals.
Penderyn Distillery (formally known as The Welsh Whisky Company), is a small, privately owned company with 24 employees.
In 2007, Penderyn Distillery introduced three further brands: Brecon Five Vodka, Brecon Gin and Merlyn Cream Liqueur. Each have won international recognition and are gaining an excellent reputation in the UK and abroad.
The Penderyn distillery is located in the beautiful Brecon Beacons National Park.
The aim of opening up the distillery to visitors is to educate and inform people about the ancient art of distilling and to demonstrate the differences between our process and the distilling of Scottish, Irish and American whiskies.
