Singing is not unusual in Wales.
Word has got around about the Stereophonics and the Lost Prophets.
Tom Jones is a Pontypridd boy. When he sang at his local park a few years ago we were delighted to welcome him back to his own green, green, slightly muddy grass of home.
It’s not just open air music though. There are seasonal extravaganzas, fetes and festivals - Nos Galan, the Full Ponty, Big Bite and Big Welsh Bite as well as unique events like the Marie Llwyd and Beating the Bounds and events in Aberdare Park and Ynysangharad War Memorial Park… it’s all happening here in Rhondda Cynon Taf.
Over 100 events a year.
Here are some of the highlights of our 2008 Summer Events programme...
- 1 Aug 2008 Big Welsh Bite

- Annual food, farming & fun event
- 30 Aug 2008 RCT County Show & National Vegetable Show
- Annual flower, gardening and craft show 30 - 31 August
- 1 Sep 2008 FITA Archery Championships
- Rhondda Cynon Taf has always enjoyed an association with archery – in 1346 Llantrisants archers helped the Black Prince beat the French at Crécy. In 2008 we will be challenging the French again (and other nations) but this time as joint hosts of the FITA World Field Archery Championships.
- 5 Sep 2008 Wales Valleys Walking Festival

- This year’s Wales Valleys Walking Festival is bigger and better with over 40 guided walks spread over 2 weeks in early Autumn.
